What is a dynamic QR code?

That link stays fixed forever, but behind the scenes you can change where it sends people, what it displays, or whether it's even active — anytime, without touching the printed code. A static code, by contrast, bakes your destination directly into the pattern, so changing it means reprinting.

How do I create my first QR code?

From your dashboard, click “New QR code”, give it a name (just for you — scanners never see it), pick a type such as Website, Contact, Event, Wi-Fi, Text, Email or Phone, and fill in the details. A live preview updates as you type. Click “Create QR code” and it's ready to scan immediately.

How do I print or download my code?

Accepted Answer

Open the code's analytics page and use the SVG or PNG buttons to download it. SVG is best for professional printing (it scales to any size without blurring); PNG is easiest for slides, posters, or anywhere a raster image is expected. You can also hit “Print” on that page to print directly from your browser.

What does /q/:slug actually do?

It's the short link printed inside your QR code. When someone scans it, that request hits QRkode first: we log the scan (time, location, device, browser, referrer) and check that the code is allowed to resolve — not paused, expired, over its scan limit, or password-locked — before sending the visitor on to your real destination or content. That single hop in the middle is what makes analytics and editable destinations possible.

Do I need to be technical to use QRkode?

No. Choose a type, enter your content, and download — most people are live in under a minute. Advanced options like scheduling, scan limits and password protection are tucked into an “Advanced” section so they're there when you need them but out of the way when you don't.

How do I change where my code points after it's printed?

Accepted Answer

Open the code, click “Edit”, update the destination (or any other field), and save. The printed code and its /q/:slug link never change — only what happens behind that link does. This works for every code type, not just websites: swap a Wi-Fi network, update an event's time, or point a business card at a new phone number.

What types of content can a QR code hold?

URL/website (redirects straight to your link), Text (shows plain text), Email (opens a pre-filled email draft), Phone (dials a number), Wi-Fi (joins a network automatically — no typing a password), Contact/vCard (saves a contact card straight to the scanner's phone), and Event (adds a calendar entry with a one-tap “add to calendar”, ideal for weddings and invitations).

What's the difference between a dynamic and a static code?

A dynamic Website code redirects through your trackable /q/:slug link, so you get scan analytics and can edit the destination later. A static code encodes the raw value directly (for example the URL itself) with no redirect and no tracking, but it also never depends on QRkode staying online. You can toggle “Dynamic code” off for a Website type if you specifically want that; every other type is inherently dynamic since it's edited through your account.

Can I customize how my code looks?

Yes. Every plan can change the module shape (rounded, square, dots, diamond) and eye style (rounded, square, leaf). Pro and Business plans unlock full branding: custom code and background colors, a center logo (choose an emoji or upload your own image, up to 500KB), a caption printed under the code, and a frame. We'll warn you if your color choice is too low-contrast to scan reliably.

Can I schedule a code to go live later or expire automatically?

Yes — in the Advanced section of the editor, set an “Activate on” date to keep the code inactive until a future moment (great for embargoed launches) and/or an “Expires on” date to automatically retire it afterward. Leave either blank for “now” and “never” respectively. A scanner who hits the code outside its active window sees a friendly “not live yet” or “expired” message instead of your content.

Can I limit how many times a code can be scanned?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Set a “Scan limit” in the Advanced section and the code automatically stops resolving once it reaches that many scans — useful for limited-quantity offers or single-use invitations. Scanners who arrive after the cap see a “scan limit reached” message. Raise the limit or remove it anytime by editing the code.

Can I password-protect a code?

Yes. Set a password in the Advanced section and scanners must enter it before the code resolves — handy for private content like an internal document or a members-only offer. You can remove the password later from the same screen, and once unlocked on a device it stays unlocked there for a day so people aren't asked repeatedly.

What does each analytics number mean?

Accepted Answer

Total scans counts every scan recorded. Unique counts distinct visitors (by device/session), with returning showing how many of those unique visitors came back for a second or later scan. “Countries” is how many distinct countries scans came from, and the trend badge compares the last 7 days to the 7 days before that.

What's the difference between unique and returning scans?

Accepted Answer

A unique scan is the first time a particular visitor scans a given code. If that same visitor scans it again later, it still counts toward total scans but is marked returning rather than unique. In the recent-scans table, a “New” badge marks the row as that visitor's first scan of this code.

Question 15

Can I see where my scans are coming from geographically?

Accepted Answer

Yes — the “Where scans happen” map plots scans by approximate location, and the “Top countries” list ranks countries by scan count with flags for quick scanning. Location is derived from the scanner's IP address at the moment of the scan.

Can I see what devices, operating systems and browsers people use?

Yes — three separate breakdowns (Devices, Operating systems, Browsers) show a ranked bar list for each, so you can tell at a glance whether your audience is mostly mobile or desktop, iOS or Android, Safari or Chrome.

What are peak hours and traffic sources?

Peak hours shows scan volume by hour of day in your account's timezone, so you can spot when your audience is most active — handy for timing a follow-up campaign. Traffic sources groups scans by referrer (e.g. direct scan, a specific website, or social platform) when that information is available from the scan.

Is there a live feed of scans?

Yes — the “Recent scans” table on each code's analytics page lists the latest scans with relative time (e.g. “2m ago”), location, and device, refreshed each time you load or revisit the page, with a “New” badge on first-time visitors.

How far back does my scan history go?

It depends on your plan: Free keeps 30 days of history, Pro keeps a full year, and Business keeps everything with no cutoff. The date-range selector on each code's analytics page (7 / 30 / 90 / 365 days) automatically locks any range beyond what your plan retains, with a prompt to upgrade for the full picture.

Yes — every account starts on the Free plan, free forever, no credit card required. You get 3 dynamic QR codes and 30-day analytics history. Upgrade to Pro or Business whenever you want more codes, longer history, or custom branding.

What do the paid plans include?

Accepted Answer

Pro ($19/month) includes 50 QR codes, a full year of analytics history, custom branding (colors, logo, caption), and CSV/bulk exports. Business ($49/month) includes unlimited QR codes, unlimited analytics history, everything in Pro, plus API access. Both are billed monthly and include unlimited scans.

How do I upgrade my plan?

Accepted Answer

Go to Billing in your account, pick a plan, and you'll be taken to a secure Stripe Checkout page to enter payment details. Your new limits and features apply as soon as checkout completes — no need to recreate or reprint anything.

How do I update my payment method or view invoices?

Accepted Answer

From Billing, click “Manage subscription” to open the Stripe customer portal, where you can update your card, download past invoices, and change billing details. This only appears once you're on a paid, active plan.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Accepted Answer

From Billing, click “Cancel subscription” and confirm. You keep full access to your current plan until the end of the billing period you've already paid for — cancelling doesn't cut you off immediately. You can also manage or cancel from the Stripe customer portal via “Manage subscription”.

What happens to my codes if I go over my plan's limits?

Your existing codes keep working and keep their data. Creating new codes beyond your plan's limit is blocked until you either free up a slot (archive an old code) or upgrade. If a paid subscription lapses, new scans pause with a friendly notice until you reactivate — nothing is ever deleted, and codes resume instantly with no reprinting.

How do I update my name, company or email?

Go to Settings, edit the fields under “Profile” (name, company, email), and click “Save changes”.

How do I set my timezone?

Go to Settings and choose your timezone under “Profile”. It controls how dates and times are displayed across your analytics, including the peak-hours chart, so scans line up with your local time rather than UTC.

Go to Settings, scroll to “Password”, enter your current password plus the new one twice, and click “Update password”.

Can I delete my account?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In Settings, the “Danger zone” section has a “Delete account” button. This permanently removes every QR code you own, all of their scan analytics, and your billing history — it can't be undone, so make sure you've exported anything you need first.

My QR code isn't scanning at all — what should I check?

Accepted Answer

First, check contrast: a light code color on a light background (or the reverse) can make a code unreadable to cameras, and the editor will warn you about this while you design it. Next, make sure the printed size is large enough for the scanning distance — a code meant to be scanned from a few meters away needs to be substantially bigger than one held in the hand. Finally, confirm you're printing the current SVG or PNG download and not an old, cropped, or low-resolution copy.

My code shows the wrong destination or content — how do I fix it?

Open the code from your dashboard and check its current destination or payload under “Edit” — dynamic codes update instantly, so if it looks wrong, someone (perhaps you, in an earlier edit) likely changed it. Save the correct value and every scan from that point on, including already-printed copies, will use it right away.

Scanners see “paused”, “not live yet”, “expired” or “scan limit reached” — what do these mean?

Accepted Answer

“Paused” means the code is inactive or your plan can't currently serve it (for example after a paid subscription lapses) — reactivating your plan or the code fixes it instantly. “Not live yet” means you set an “Activate on” date in the future. “Expired” means you set an “Expires on” date that has passed. “Scan limit reached” means the code hit the scan cap you configured. Edit the code to adjust or clear the relevant setting, and it resumes immediately with no reprinting.

A scan happened but isn't showing up in my analytics — why?

Give it a moment and refresh the analytics page — scans are recorded as they happen, but the page itself only reflects the current load. If it still doesn't appear, check the date range selector at the top of the analytics page; it may be set to a window that excludes the scan, or your plan's history limit may not reach back far enough. Scans against a code your account doesn't own, or made while the code was password-locked and never unlocked, won't be attributed either.

Someone scanned my code but says they got an error page instead of my content — what happened?

Accepted Answer

If the code doesn't exist or was deleted, scanners see “Code not found”. Otherwise, the message corresponds to one of the paused/scheduled/expired/scan-limit states above. Ask them exactly which message they saw, or check the code's status yourself from your dashboard — it will show a “Paused” badge if the code is currently inactive.
